The Denim Project has a unique opportunity to partner with another organization in providing a Home of Their Own for our Haitian Denim Project manager, Charles Richardson and his family. Through the school his daughter attends, an organization has offered to build permanent homes for the students and their families who own a piece of land. Charles and his family currently live in The Denim House and do not own a home of their own.
Charles has found a property in Minoterie near two other Denim Project artisans. The land has a tent home and a fenced in yard. The owner is asking $2500 US for this property. Because of the port going in near Minoterie, the cost of land is going higher and higher everyday pricing most Haitians out of the market. Only 2 years ago, a piece of land could be purchased for around $300 US. This sudden increase in price has made it nearly impossible for many Haitian families to purchase land of their own.
The Denim Project would like to come alongside Charles and his family to help make the dream of a home of their own a reality. To date: $500 in donations has been raised toward this project. $2000 is still needed to make their dream come true. Donate today.
